  1. I often respect the photographer's afford to take a "true" photo so that enjoy the process of shooting. Compositing make it too easy and the whole photo taking process become unrealistic. It is a good tool in terms of creative but it is another field.
Whatever, I'm expecting your 2013 exhibition. Please keep we all informed.

    • Thank you HiZaku, I am sure if we meet we will have endless topics to share related to art and photography. I am now at the stage of trying hard to locate a proper place for the exhibition. Also trying extremely hard to write my artist statement! I will try to update this blog with better writing as possible in the coming future. Thank you again for your support all the time! Bobby

  2. I'm the former one that photos shall capture what I press the shutter. Of course, I also retouch in PS to remove dirt, wanted debris but the key element or theme must be "taken" by camera. Nowadays Salon made by full compositing is not my cup of tea and I classified it as "graphic design" instead of "photography". I may be a stuborn old guy. Ha Ha...

    • Hi HiZaku,
When I first explore the field of so call 'true photography', I have discovered that Photography could be divided into many small sets and subsets. For example, documentary photography is a set within Photography while ID / passport photos is a very small subset within documentary photography. With the development of darkroom and later the digital darkroom, many artists go for manipulate their images to composite it into their final pieces of work (I do not call these photographs this stage). We all know they are not straight photograph as the result of pressing the shutter, but from a more wider point of view, the piece of work are made by many individual photographs. Lots of fellow photo lovers have the same comment as yours that these are just a composite or at most a collage of images.
At this moment, I am still presenting photographs as what you have been practicing, i.e. images straight from the camera with only necessary clean up or adjustment. But when we come to the topic of creative, we might have to include other forms of presentation / expression. It is because I always believe we can always learn something from any form of art, so why not with art pieces that closely related to photography (for example Andreas Gursky's 99 cents store that when I examined it closely, it is actually a composition of many many layer of photographs taken in the same or not the same venue).
I think only after we open our mind then we can decide what is our next target. At least this is how I refine my approach in photography. I am planning my first exhibition in 2013 and hopefully you can give me your comments and let me progress into a higher level in presenting my impression.

    • Hi HiZaku, How are you doing? Yes, Most of the images in the video are composted images no matter in analogue or digital form. As discussed with many people who love photography, some really hold tight with the images created when the shutter button pressed. Some only look at the final images and do not matter what and how to create the image. We may say the later are image makers instead of photographer. However, once in a while we found people with great talent who can use the same tool in different ways and create something that spark. I do hope our younger generation can see through the images and understand the mind behind the creative process and not the process itself. Bobby
